‘SPACES’ is a series of artistic works that accompany real flights of a panoramic camera aboard a helium balloon. The visitors are offered the possibility to fly from between the respective venues of different exhibitions and the universe. These are presented to the public as a virtual reality installation, broadening their understanding of our existence through an extremely immersive sensory experience.
The central aspect of 'SPACES', which has already been produced for ZKM Karlsruhe, Zeppelin Museum, Friedrichshafen and Raumwelten, Ludwigsburg, is to provide, through new technologies, the experience of a reality otherwise inaccessible due to the laws of gravity and extreme heights. The experience provides the viewer with an impressive physical experience of weightlessness, opening the boundaries between the real and the virtual, between the possible and the impossible.
A particular strength of this project is that the visitors get to experience a take-off from the very spot they are standing in physically. For a relatively small budget this is realisable from most places.
